As a Sociologist and a Scholar of English literature, Laura and Tim, The Battersby Duo, are passionate about Children succeeding academically. Shake Rattle and Read challenges Students to define, decline and refine....; adjectives, adverbs, nouns, prepositions, words, sentences, paragraphs, chapter and verse. It exhorts and pleads for Students to read because "Every Child that Reads Succeeds."

From Shel Silverstein to Dr. Seuss the Battersby Duo make literature come alive for this special learning to read age group. The Battersby Duo takes their young audience on an enchanting journey, to a land of imagination, foible and fable. Developed as a building block companion to their curriculum, The Battersby's have written more than 300 songs for the PreK-6th grade set, and have recorded a number of best selling CD's. Their songs are all over the stylistic map, with lessons on primary colors, barnyard animals, family togetherness and the dignity due to those who are different. They tour Nationally 250 days a year, performing in Theatres, Libraries Schools and Festivals. They have had the privilege of performing 6 times at The White House, for The President and First Lady and have also appeared at The Kennedy Center, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Wolf Trap's Theatre in the Woods, and Filene Center.
